The Taylor Wildcats will challenge the University Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Taylor made easy work of New Smyrna Beach and carried off a 16-1 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Barracudas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Savannah Pearson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Pearson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Amya Ramos was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kendall Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Smyrna Beach only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for University, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Winter Park get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Wednesday.
Not much got past Olivia Boon, who gave up just three hits to keep Winter Park off the board. Furthermore, Boon didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, University let Addison Pertler and Mia Fisher run wild. Pertler went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Fisher scored a run while going 1-for-2. Nina Rios-Cruz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
University now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Taylor, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
University's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taylor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .446. It's a different story for University, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Taylor's hitters?
Taylor might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from University when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Taylor have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
