Jackson Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bolivar-Richburg). They put the hurt on Friendship with a sharp 22-4 win on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won three contests in a row.
Landon Barkley was incredible, going 4-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Baldwin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bolivar-Richburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Bolivar-Richburg's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Hinsdale Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hinsdale Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bolivar-Richburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hinsdale Central might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from Bolivar-Richburg in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Bobcats have more luck at home instead of on the road?
