The NorthWood Panthers will face off against the East Central Trojans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with NorthWood sitting on nine straight victories and East Central on 20 (dating back to last season).
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only NorthWood walked away with it. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 45-33 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
NorthWood relied on the efforts of Landon Perry, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown, and Jojo Edmond, who gained 105 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, East Central faced New Palestine in a battle between two of the state's top teams. East Central really took it to New Palestine for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 win at home. Considering East Central has won 13 matches by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dylan Maxwell was a one-man wrecking crew for East Central as he rushed for 251 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Maxwell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Josh Ringer was in the mix too, providing East Central with two touchdowns.
NorthWood's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for East Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
