Two dominant players in Kasson James and Kaden Butler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Parkside Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the KIPP College Prep Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Parkside is ranked 16th, while KIPP College Prep is ranked 23rd).
Parkside suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 76-48 loss at the hands of Friendship Tech Prep Academy.
Meanwhile, KIPP College Prep's game on Friday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Bell with points to spare, taking the game 64-45. With that victory, KIPP College Prep brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
KIPP College Prep had a senior duo take command as AJ Jackson scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals and Joey Mitchell scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. Butler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Parkside's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for KIPP College Prep, they pushed their record up to 6-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Parkside strolled past KIPP College Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-52. Will Parkside repeat their success, or does KIPP College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
