The Southern Durham Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Scotland Fighting Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southern Durham had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Eastern Alamance on the road to the tune of 36-7. Winning may never get old, but Southern Durham sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Southern Durham's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Amir Hall, who picked up 210 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Jordan McClure, who threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. Hall's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Jonathan Dillon also helped out as he racked up 128 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, everything went Scotland's way against Rocky Mount on Friday as Scotland made off with a 48-23 win.
It was another big night for Zay Jones, who rushed for 242 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Jones is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Southern Durham pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.67 points. As for Scotland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Southern Durham and Scotland have no problem gaining yardage. Southern Durham has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 397.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Scotland struggles in that department as they've been even better at 414.9 per game.
