The Lakewood Leopards won the last time they faced the Union Spartans, and things went their way on Friday too. Lakewood simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Union 75-37 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Lakewood has managed all season.
Leading Lakewood to victory were Jaziah Brunson and Cameron Williams. Brunson scored nine points along with two steals, while Williams dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Brunson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Juan Parker Jr., who scored 11 points.
Lakewood used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Union. And. Nathan Pitts made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Lakewood pushed their record up to 7-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Union, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Lakewood will head out on the road to face off against North Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Duplin will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Lakewood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union, they will be playing at home against Rosewood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
