Belen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Socorro as Belen made off with a 61-38 victory. The win was just what Belen needed coming off of a 65-43 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaelynn Bob, who scored 14 points. Analeigha Wright was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Bernalillo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 84-35 defeat at the hands of Kirtland Central. While losing is never fun, Bernalillo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Kirtland Central is ranked third).
Belen's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bernalillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Belen was dealt a bruising 64-26 defeat at the hands of Bernalillo in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Thankfully for Belen, Juliana Aragon (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
