Vanlue has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Van Buren Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Vanlue focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday.
Vanlue suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 50-18 loss at the hands of Colonel Crawford. While losing is never fun, Vanlue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 704th, while Colonel Crawford is ranked 125th).
Despite the defeat, Vanlue saw an underclassman step up: Candace Saltzman scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Van Buren came up short against Arcadia on Thursday and fell 48-39.
Vanlue has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Van Buren, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Vanlue took a serious blow against Van Buren in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 59-14. Can Vanlue avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
