The Union Grove Wolverines are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Pleasant Grove Spartans. Union Grove had just enough and edged Pleasant Grove out 65-62. Winning may never get old, but Union Grove sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Union Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Brooks, who scored 19 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brooks has scored at least 25% of Union Grove's points. Another player making a difference was Nadea Smith, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Union Grove's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Grove will square off against Jones County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jones County will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against John Carroll Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Carroll Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 19th).
