Football Game Preview: Cienega Bobcats vs. Desert View Jaguars + How To Watch

Cienega is a perfect 3-0 against Desert View since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats will host the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cienega sitting on three straight victories and Desert View on nine (dating back to last season).

On Friday, Cienega earned a 28-20 win over Flowing Wells.

Josue Martin had a dynamite game, rushing for 171 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Julian Hainley, who threw for 133 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Desert View hadn't done well against Canyon del Oro recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Dorados 41-7. Fans of the Jaguars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Desert View's win came from a few key players Cienega will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylee Abraham, who rushed for 226 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Those 226 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ryan Vasavilbaso was another key player, throwing for 244 yards and four TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Desert View was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Desert View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Abraham and Robert Medrano. Abraham got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Desert View's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Cienega, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Cienega strolled past Desert View when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 34-19. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
