The Carmel Padres's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 17th straight defeat. They were outmatched by Soledad on the road and fell 48-20. While losing is never fun, Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1183rd, while the Aztecs are ranked 502nd).
Myah Koster and Lillian Grundy certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Koster scored three points along with ten rebounds and five steals, while Grundy scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grundy has scored all season. Ava Mangiapane was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two steals.
Carmel dropped their record down to 1-19 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Soledad, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Carmel will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. Greenfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Soledad, they will head out on the road to face off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
