River Forest dropped down to 4-10 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hammond Central Wolves by a score of 11-10. The Ingots were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Kailey Gott and Jaina Facchini stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gott went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Facchini went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Emma Witt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Hammond Central, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 9, 2025.
On Hammond Central's side, Evalyse Pabey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Hammond Central got a massive performance out of Raven Jo Floyd, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Neveena Funches was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Forest will challenge Lake Station Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Hammond Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hammond Morton at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
