Basketball Recap: Noah Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Central over Washington Township

South Central was the 56-55 winner over Washington Township when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The South Central Satellites fell just short of the Washington Township Senators by a score of 62-59 on Saturday.

South Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Howard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Howard a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Huerta, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, South Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Washington Township got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rob McGowan out in front who went 8 for 16 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. McGowan continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brogan Banker, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

South Central now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Washington Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

South Central will be playing at home against Tri-Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Washington Township, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-46 loss against Hobart on the 28th.
