The White Oak Vikings will challenge the Topsail Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
White Oak is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Wednesday. They came out on top against Swansboro by a score of 12-9. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Alyssa Whitcomb was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Whitcomb was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, White Oak let Avery Sise and Alyssa Carkhuff run wild. Sise went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Carkhuff went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most RBI Sise has posted since back in March of 2025. Emma Hall was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Topsail had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let Jacksonville get on the board and left with a 21-0 win.
Addison Ash looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mae Rimel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton JAnthony, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
White Oak suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Topsail in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
