The Davie War Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Glenn Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Davie has 14 straight victories, Glenn has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Parkland scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, Davie still came out on top. Davie took their contest against Parkland 72-64. Given Davie's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Parkland is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Davie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Powers has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Ratledge, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Glenn, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-36 loss to East Forsyth on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Glenn in their matchups with East Forsyth: they've now lost five in a row.
Davie pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Glenn, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Davie didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Glenn in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. Does Davie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glenn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
