Fountain Central is 0-3 against South Putnam since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fountain Central comes in on four and South Putnam on three.
Fountain Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 47-6 victory over Parke Heritage. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Mustangs just coasted through the last quarter.
Eli Foxworthy produced another solid performance rushing for 42 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Ayden Batchelor was in the mix too, providing Fountain Central with two scores.
Fountain Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Parke Heritage to a completion percentage of just 44%. The team can thank Nolan Acton for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fountain Central has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.

Fountain Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ryan Mitchell, Foxworthy, and Wyatt Clark picked up one apiece. Foxworthy's passing game has become a key predictor of Fountain Central's success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. The Mustangs got some further help from Noah Dodson: he made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, South Putnam took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 68-14 win over Attica. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Red Ramblers are ranked 298th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fountain Central better keep an eye on Ty Benton. He was instrumental in South Putnam's win, rushing for 151 yards and three TDs on only six carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Benton has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Drew Cline, who threw for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for South Putnam, racking up 20 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Blake Witt, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Benton.
Fountain Central's record is now 6-4. As for South Putnam, their record now sits at 8-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Fountain Central has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Putnam struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 317.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Fountain Central took a serious blow against South Putnam when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 54-7. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 46-0.
