The Basha Bears pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Higley. Basha was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Higley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
When it comes to explaining why Basha lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Beckler. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Sword, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
It was another big night for Claire Greenwade, who scored 28 points along with seven assists and three steals for Higley. The matchup was Greenwade's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cadence Murdough, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and seven blocks.
Basha's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Higley, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Basha will take on Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maricopa is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Higley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
