The Yorktown Tigers lost against the Greenfield-Central Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Yorktown lost to Greenfield-Central at home by a decisive 51-33 margin. Yorktown has not had much luck with Greenfield-Central recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Yorktown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly Sylvester, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Addy Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Greenfield-Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chaney Brown out in front who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Sonsini, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Yorktown's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Greenfield-Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yorktown will take on New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Palestine will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Greenfield-Central, they will be playing at home against Southport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southport is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
