After four games on the road, Carver is heading back home. They will take on the Thomasville Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Carver's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Carver put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy 82-54 on the road. The win was just what Carver needed coming off of a 85-62 defeat in their prior match.
Carver had a senior duo take command as Jazmin Thornton scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and Aubri Wilkins dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wilkins pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayden Cooper, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Thomasville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-43 victory over Columbus. The win made it back-to-back wins for Thomasville.
Dallas Hill was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 28 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. JaLeah Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Carver's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Thomasville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Carver have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Thomasville, though, as they've been averaging only 32 rebounds per game. Given Carver's sizeable advantage in that area, Thomasville will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Carver against Thomasville when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 93-37 win. With Carver ahead 46-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
