New Albany had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Groveport-Madison on Saturday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Cruisers with a sharp 14-3 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cruisers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Maddie Fuchs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zoe Oakleaf, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Alexander, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hilliard Davidson faced off against Hilliard Darby on Friday. The Wildcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 19-3.
New Albany's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Hilliard Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Everything went New Albany's way against Hilliard Davidson when the teams last played back in April of 2018, as New Albany made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
