After a string of four wins, the Homer Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 59-31 loss at the hands of Pender. Homer has not had much luck with Pender recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Homer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexandra Albrecht. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Rylie Harris was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pender to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Wegner, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Dolliver, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Homer now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Pender, they pushed their record up to 21-1 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Homer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-35 win vs. Ponca on the 9th. Pender has also already played their next match, a 78-50 victory against Howells-Dodge on the 9th.
