San Diego Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rudy Nieto led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Nieto scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Flores, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, King-Chavez Community was beaten by the Redhawks 54-13 on Thursday. King-Chavez Community has not had much luck with the Redhawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
San Diego Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for King-Chavez Community, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
