Even though the North Duplin Rebels have not done well against the Lakewood Leopards recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. North Duplin blew past Lakewood 71-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory North Duplin has posted since December 8, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Donavan Armwood, who scored 13 points. Dujuan Armwood was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Lakewood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Williams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Williams grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Juan Parker Jr., who scored ten points.
North Duplin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for Lakewood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
North Duplin will be playing at home against Union at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Hobbton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
