The matchup between the Floyd Central Jaguars and the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. Floyd Central took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hazard. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Floyd Central saw an underclassman step up: Maddy Engle scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Compton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hazard, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will challenge Paintsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hazard, they will head out on the road to face off against Knox Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
