The Lugoff-Elgin Demons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They managed a 62-58 win over Camden. That's two games straight that Lugoff-Elgin has won by exactly four points.
Lugoff-Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savon Jenkins led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jenkins scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Mumford, who scored 16 points.
Camden's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Israel Macklin, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Macklin scored a full 39.7% of Camden's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Damon Howey was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lugoff-Elgin and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Camden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lugoff-Elgin will challenge Sumter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Camden, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
