The Chicago Academy Cougars will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Solorio Sun Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Chicago Academy: 24.8, Solorio: 25.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
Chicago Academy can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 58-26 win over Schurz at home. The score was close at the half, but Chicago Academy pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Lizbeth Sanchez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Destiny Rodriguez, who scored six points along with nine steals.
Solorio fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against ACERO Garcia by a score of 23-10 on Wednesday.
Solorio's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danielle Ridgner, who scored eight points, and Melanie Macedo, who scored nine points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ridgner has scored at least a third of Solorio's points.
Chicago Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Solorio, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
