Make it four blowout wins for the Menaul Panthers this season. They blew past Cottonwood Classical Prep 62-27 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Menaul sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Menaul's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charli Boatman led the charge by scoring 22 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Boatman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blanca Riera, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Cottonwood Classical Prep saw an underclassman step up: Ryah Carlson scored 12 points along with three steals. Carlson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Menaul pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Menaul will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against To'hajiilee at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (To'hajiilee is ranked 78th, while Menaul is ranked 59th). As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
