Basketball Recap: Jamal Gilliam Key Part of a Team Effort in Falcons Win

After losing to Greeley Central the last time they met, Skyline decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Skyline Falcons came out on top against the Greeley Central Wildcats by a score of 59-47 on Saturday. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skyline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamal Gilliam, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gilliam a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny McCray, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, ten boards, and ten steals.

Skyline was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley Central only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Greeley Central still got an impressive performance from Daniel Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 53.2% of Greeley Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

The victory got Skyline back to even at 6-6. As for Greeley Central, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-7.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-53 loss against Monarch on the 21st. As for Greeley Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-49 defeat against Mountain View on the 21st.
