D.H. Conley suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by South Central 60-31. The contest was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but D.H. Conley was outscored by South Central in the second.
D.H. Conley's loss came about despite a quality game from Ella Pierre-Louis, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Pierre-Louis has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Moira Skalak, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Havelock came up short against Northside - Jacksonville on Friday and fell 44-37.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Adaija Cypress, who scored six points along with seven steals. Nevaeh George was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
D.H. Conley's record now sits at 10-4. As for Havelock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Wednesday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: D.H. Conley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 44.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Havelock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for D.H. Conley against Havelock in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-23 win. Will D.H. Conley repeat their success, or does Havelock have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
