It was a good run, but the Monterey Trail Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 86-66 walloping at the hands of Branson. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Monterey Trail lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Gibson Jr. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. Gibson Jr has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 15 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashawn Inglemon, who scored ten points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey Trail will take on River City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. River City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Branson, Branson and Marin Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Marin Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 382 points over their last six contests.
