If the Vanguard Knights were riding high off their 44-2 takedown of the Citrus Hurricanes last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vanguard lost to the Knights on the road by a decisive 43-26 margin on Thursday. Vanguard was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Vanguard lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aniyah Hope, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Hope hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Kenaria Dowdy, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Vanguard's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for East Ridge, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Vanguard will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Ridge, they will face off against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Evans focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday.
