After each having a week off, the Carrollwood Day Patriots and the Father Lopez Green Wave will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Father Lopez will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Carrollwood Day extended their winning streak to nine two weeks ago. The Patriots blew past Spanish River 47-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Sharks are ranked 189th).

Carrollwood Day can attribute much of their success to Kameron Battle, who gained 214 total yards and two touchdowns, and Myles Mcdonald, who threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Battle is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season. A healthy portion of Mcdonald's aerial production (106 yards to be exact) went to DJ WIlliams.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Carrollwood Day proved: they limited Spanish River to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Antonio Thomas for the heroic effort on defense: he. Carrollwood Day didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.2.
Carrollwood Day didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of DeMarcus VanDyke and James Allen. Another thorn in Spanish River's side was Thomas, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Father Lopez never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Taylor two weeks ago. They breezed past the Wildcats to the tune of 42-13. With the Green Wave ahead 28-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Father Lopez's win came from a few key players Carrollwood Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colt Davis, who threw for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Father Lopez's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Shipley Rosenberg, who rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Carrollwood Day's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Father Lopez, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Carrollwood Day has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 303.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Father Lopez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 163.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
