The Monessen Greyhounds entered their tilt with the California Trojans with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Monessen breezed by California at home to the tune of 76-34. Monessen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, California still got an impressive performance from Caden Monticelli, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Monticelli scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Neil, who scored eight points.
Monessen pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.78 points. As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monessen will square off against Bethlehem Center at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. California won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bentworth at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Bentworth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
