Page is 1-9 against Northwest Guilford since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Page Pirates will get right back to it and host the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Page will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Northwest Guilford is ranked 115th).
Page's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 61-28 victory over College Prep & Leadership Academy. That looming 61-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Page yet this season.
Page found their leader in underclassman Lola Vanore, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vanore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hattie Sloyan, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Northwest Guilford has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast Guilford on Friday.
Page's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Northwest Guilford, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
Things could have been worse for Page, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-40 loss to Northwest Guilford in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Page avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
