Lafayette is 8-1-1 against Cor Jesu Academy since September of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Lancers will face off against the Chargers. Lafayette will be looking to extend their current 22-game winning streak.
Lafayette is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Marquette, who was ranked ninth at the time (Lafayette was ranked first). The Lancers blew past the Mustangs 3-0 on Tuesday.
Lafayette not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Marquette between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-19.

Lafayette relied on the efforts of Addy Wiese, who had 25 digs and one assist, and Alexa Hastings, who had five digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Hastings a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Lafayette was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cor Jesu Academy earned a 3-1 win over Jackson on Tuesday.
The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17.
Lafayette better focus on containing Tori Gallen and Ginnie Normile as the pair were huge in Cor Jesu Academy's win. Gallen had six digs and two aces, while Normile had 13 digs. Gallen has been hot recently, having also posted 12 or more assists the last four times she's played.
Lafayette's record is now 37-1. As for Cor Jesu Academy, their record now sits at 22-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Lafayette has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Cor Jesu Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
