Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pinnacle). They took down the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions 88-74 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pioneers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Pinnacle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Nelson out in front who went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. That's the most points Nelson has posted since back in February of 2024. Kareem Alkhalifa was another key player, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points.
Nelson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pinnacle was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Thompson, who went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points along with six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Donovan, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 22 points.
Pinnacle's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-12. As for Mountain Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
