Wray's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Tena led the charge by picking up 137 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 131 yards and one score on only six carries. That's the most receiving yards Tena has posted since back in October of 2024. Brody Stults was another key player, rushing for 160 yards and two TDs on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wray was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 364 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holyoke only rushed for 117.
Meanwhile, Burlington strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They enjoyed a cozy 32-14 win over Yuma. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Outlaws on their field since October 6, 2017.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Scout Humrich and Jason Saucedo. Humrich rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries while Saucedo rushed for 139 yards while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Humrich is now averaging an impressive 102.8 rushing yards per game.
Wray now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Burlington, their record now sits at 5-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wray has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Burlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 290.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Wray against Burlington when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-6 victory. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
