The West Columbus Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Bladen Eagles at 7:30 p.m. West Columbus has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact West Columbus proved on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Whiteville 52-49.
West Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Watts-Brown, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Triston Freeman, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Bladen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Pender 80-56. The win was some much needed relief for East Bladen as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
West Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for East Bladen, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
