The Plymouth Wildcats will face off against the Walled Lake Western Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plymouth's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five games, but Saturday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Plymouth after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Divine Child, falling 8-1.
Evan Jacob was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Plymouth saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Rose, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Walled Lake Western got themselves on the board against Mott on Wednesday, but Mott never followed suit. They blew past the Corsairs 11-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Corsairs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Vincent Roach was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Roach was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Walled Lake Western got a massive performance out of Lucas Hoffmeyer, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Hoffmeyer hit this season. Mickey Gross was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple.
Walled Lake Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mott only posted an OBP of .200.
Plymouth's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Walled Lake Western, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
