Lone Pine is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Baker is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Lone Pine Golden Eagles will get right back to it and host the Baker Braves at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Lone Pine knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Baker likes a good challenge.
Lone Pine can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to Owens Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-15 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-5.
Lone Pine relied on the efforts of Alfonso Castro, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Cristian Duran, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Castro is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Rodriguez, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Baker didn't have too much trouble with Big Pine at home on Saturday as they won 54-38. Baker pushed the score to 46-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Big Pine cut but never quite recovered from.
Lone Pine's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Baker, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Lone Pine took their win against Baker in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 55-30. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Baker's Richard Ibarra, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lone Pine still be able to contain Ibarra? There's only one way to find out.
