CHAPEL HILL, Tenn. -
Eagleville (Tenn.) and
Forrest (Chapel Hill, Tenn.) both had great defensive games, but Eagleville was able to break through the stalemate for a 10-3 win.
The Eagles scored on a field goal and a rushing touchdown to notch the "W".
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Chris Hale in the first quarter, Eagleville was up 7-0 at the half.
EHS saw its 7-point halftime lead decrease to four entering the fourth.
The result came as a big surprise as the Rockets came in ranked No. 145 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Tennessee, while the Eagles were ranked No. 199.
Eagleville also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 16-14.
The defeat comes as a step back for Forrest, which notched a 45-7 victory over Cornersville in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for EHS, which was coming off a 20-17 defeat at the hands of Jo Byrns in its previous game. The loss broke Forrest's two-game winning streak.
Forrest (3-2) goes up against Page in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Eagleville (4-1) locks horns with Grace Baptist Academy also in a non-conference game.
