Brooks has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Perspectives-IIT/Joslin Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Brooks will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Perspectives-IIT/Joslin is ranked 238th).
Brooks pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Phillips at home by a decisive 73-59 margin. Brooks was down 65-45 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their defeat, Brooks saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Johnson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Shepard, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 2 assists.
Even though they lost, Brooks were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Austin College and Career Academy scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Perspectives-IIT/Joslin still came out on top. Perspectives-IIT/Joslin managed a 61-56 win over Austin College and Career Academy.
Brooks has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season. As for Perspectives-IIT/Joslin, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-9.
