The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Northern Valley, falling 84-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheatland-Grinnell in their matchups with Northern Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Wheatland-Grinnell saw an underclassman step up: Branton Goetz scored six points.
Wheatland-Grinnell struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northern Valley had a senior duo take command as Kenton Thalheim scored 25 points along with eight steals and Drew Schemper scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thalheim has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Kinderknecht, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Wheatland-Grinnell's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Northern Valley, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Weskan the next time they take the court. Wheatland-Grinnell will host Weskan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Northern Valley will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
