The Screven County Gamecocks suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 84-31 loss at the hands of Portal. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Screven County in their matchups with Portal: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Screven County saw an underclassman step up: Brennen Fountain scored 16 points.
Screven County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Portal, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their 22nd straight at home.
Screven County will head out on the road to challenge Emanuel County Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portal, Portal and Montgomery County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Montgomery County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Portal is ranked 35th).
