Football Recap: Fort Collins Finds Playoff Glory Versus Thunderridge

It's playoff time, and Fort Collins had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the ThunderRidge Grizzlies 42-25 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Lambkins sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jack McKeon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 370 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fort Collins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 394 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

Fort Collins' defense stepped up as well, laying out Caeden Reeder three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kaden Souders and Porter Park, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Souders got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

ThunderRidge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reeder, who threw for 169 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 35 yards. A healthy portion of Reeder's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Dieuvenson Sorenson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Fort Collins' win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for ThunderRidge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Fort Collins will head out to face off against Legend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lambkins will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight games. ThunderRidge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
