The James Monroe Mavericks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Mount View Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. James Monroe will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
James Monroe can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 60-25 win over Montcalm at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win James Monroe has posted against Montcalm since March 11, 2021.
Ryan Cole continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ridgeway, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mount View struggled with offensive rebounds two weeks ago (River View had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mount View had to suffer through a rough 62-34 loss at the hands of River View.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jawuan Jackson, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zymir Martin, who scored 15 points.
James Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mount View, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: James Monroe have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Mount View, though, as they've only made 29% of their threes per game this season. Given James Monroe's sizeable advantage in that area, Mount View will need to find a way to close that gap.
James Monroe beat Mount View 65-55 in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Does James Monroe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mount View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
