Dutch Fork has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Dutch Fork is ranked 89th, while Aiken is ranked 76th).
Even though Dutch Fork has not done well against Irmo recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dutch Fork managed a 48-43 win over Irmo. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Dutch Fork was the better team in the second half.
Bryson Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jake Bogan was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Aiken ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-45 victory over Strom Thurmond. The win made it back-to-back wins for Aiken.
Dutch Fork now has a winning record of 6-5. Aiken's record is now 6-3.
Dutch Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Aiken when the teams last played last Thursday, winning 64-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dutch Fork since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
