The Grossmont Foothillers will venture away from home to challenge the Madison Warhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grossmont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Grossmont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Santa Fe Christian on Tuesday. The Foothillers never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. While the Foothillers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Saraya Roope was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Madison Busch was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Destiny Tufugafale also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Grossmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe Christian only posted a batting average of .200.
While Madison didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Liberty Charter by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday. The Warhawks haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Aniyah Shelby (2029) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 14 hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Rosas (2029), who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalea Ohly (2027), who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Grossmont's record is now 7-2-1. As for Madison, their record now sits at 8-3-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Grossmont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Madison struggles in that department as they've averaged .493. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grossmont suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Madison in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Foothillers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
