After four games on the road, Northridge is heading back home. They will take on the Frederick Golden Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Northridge made easy work of Fort Morgan and carried off a 59-34 win. The win was just what Northridge needed coming off of a 66-41 defeat in their prior game.
Northridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jillyin Fulton out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Fulton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Carbajal, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Frederick had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They really took it to Niwot for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-12 victory on the road. The victory was just what Frederick needed coming off of a 81-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Zoe Wittler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Rivera, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Northridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Frederick, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Northridge have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Frederick struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Northridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Frederick in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 47-38. Does Northridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Frederick turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
