The Eldorado Sundevils suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Valley, falling 65-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eldorado in their matchups with Valley: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Eldorado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sara Torrico Lopez. Despite the final result, she scored five points. That was a full 35.7% of Eldorado's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Valley to victory were Jennifer Hughes and Anaya Williams. Hughes scored six points along with 17 rebounds and four steals, while Williams dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Quinn Steidler, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Eldorado bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Valley, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Eldorado will head out on the road to face off against Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Cheyenne is ranked 74th, while Eldorado is ranked 96th). As for Valley, they will be playing at home against Amplus Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Amplus Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
